Chandigarh, Sept 14 (UNI) The Punjab Animal Husbandry and Dairying Department, which today commenced the month-long 18th Livestock Census in the state has urged people to extend full cooperation in the mammoth task.
The people should readily provide proper information to the staff that are conducting the census work for their own future benefit.
This would ensure that they continue to get various facilities provided by the department, an official release said here today.
The census, which would continue till October 15, would help the government in formulating programmes and policies for promoting livestock production and further improvement in the already available high quality animal infrastructure in the state.
They said that the department had geared itself up for conducting the fresh livestock census in a systematic manner and the process was being conducted under the guidelines of Central Government as part of National Programme.
Special training had been imparted to the staff and senior officers of the department who would further train the ground staff for the ensuing census work, they said.
