Hyderabad, Sep 14 (UNI) The LV Prasad Eye Institute (LVPEI) a centre for prevention of blindness entered into a pact with Fullerton India, a Non-Banking Financial Institution, to jointly launch the ''save the eye'' programme across the country.

Through this arrangement, Fullerton India, a fully-owned subsidiary of Fullerton Financial holdings, Singapore, intended to reach out to one lakh people, requiring eye care through its 330 branches in 100 towns in the country in the next one year, said Fullerton India Managing Director GS Sundararajan here yesterday.

Mr Sundararajan and LVPEI Chairman GN Rao signed the MOU of the collaboration.

''Enthused by the pilot projects taken up in Visakhapatnam and Miriyalguda by LVPEI, Fullerton and Sightsavers International to reach out to 2000 beneficiaries, we decided to implement them in other parts of the country,'' they said.

The partnership will work well for elimination of blindness in the country by the year 2020, said Dr Rao.

The partnership allowed scaling up of LVPEI's operations, he added.
