Bangalore, Sep 14 (UNI) Taking note of the importance of effective networking, the Indian Air Force (IAF) has embarked on commissioning a huge communication project linking all units into one seamless combat entity, IAF training command's AOC-in-C Air Marshal G S Chaudhry said here today.

Speaking at 'Computer Networks Security-SECNET-2007,' being held as part of Platinum Jubilee celebrations of the IAF, at the Air Force Technical College here today, he said network security played an unparalleled role in a combat situation.

Air Marshal Chaudhry also exhorted scientists, academia, industry and operational end users to have a proper and informed debate on the issue.

Presenting a case study on 'Access Control and Communication Security of C41 System,' Prof Chandan Mazumdar said the control of human access to communication system was crucial to the smooth functioning of the IAF as most of the information communicated was highly classified and critical.

''The system requires enough security so that the eavesdroppers cannot make out what is being communicated,'' he said.

Three other papers relating to the subject were also presented on the occasion, including one by Mr S Shailesh Chansarkar of the Center for Advanced Intelligence and Robbotics.
