Shimla, Sep 14 (UNI) Coldwave conditions prevail in the tribal districts of Kinnuar, Lahaul Spiti, Kullu and Chamba districts and other surrounding areas of Himachal Pradesh after experiencing fresh spell of mild snow in higher regions of Lahaul Spiti for the second time in as many days.
The met office said higher altitude areas of the district experienced fresh spell of mild snowfall for the second night yesterday, while light showers lashed the lower areas at about 0530 hrs.
Shimla, the state capital of the hill state, and other surrounding areas were lashed by light showers during the second half of the day and the met office said it recorded seven mm rain during the day.
The continuing rains in the town and snow in the higher altitude areas of Lahaul Spiti has plummeted temperatures in Shimla, which recorded a fall of about one degree in the night temperature, which stood at 13.3 degrees, as compared to yesterday's low 14.2 degree Celsius, the met office said.
Several isolated places in the mid and lower hills of the state also recorded light showers during the day with Pandoh recording 14 mm rain, Karsog 16 mm, Mandi nine, Palampur 9.4 degree, Baijnath 6.4 and Jogindernagar seven degree Celsius.
While the sky over the tribal districts of Kullu and Chamba was clear throughout the day, thin clouds were hovering over Kinnuar district where Kalpa in Kinnuar recorded a fall in the night temperature to seven degree as against 7.6 degree Celsius recorded yesterday.
The met office said Sundernagar, Bhuntar and Dharamshala recorded night temperatures of 16.5, 17.1 and 18.7 degree Celsius as against 18.5, 15.7 and 17.9 degree Celsius recorded yesterday.
These places recorded a maximum temperature of 31.2, 32.4 and 25.2 degree Celsius respectively today, it said.
The met office has forecast rain or thundershowers at isolated places in the state during the next 24 hrs.
