'Classmates' wins best film award, Mammootty best actor
Chennai, Sep 14 (UNI) 'Classmates' directed by Lal Jose has been selected as the best film for the Mathrubhumi-PSS Award 2006.
Announcing the awards here today, Jury Chairman K S Sethumadhavan said while Sathyan Anthikad was selected the best director for his film Rasathanthram', the best actor award went to Mammootty for his performance in 'Palunku'.
He said the 'Excellence in Acting Award' would be presented to Mohanlal for his performance in 'Rasathanthram'.
He said actor Padmapriya was adjudged the best actress for her performance in film 'Vadakkumnathan' and young singer Vineeth Sreenivasan was adjudged the best male singer.
Major Ravi's directoral debut 'Keerthichakra' had been selected for the Special Jury Award.
Mr Sethumadhavan said the awards would be distributed at a function to be held at Cochin during the second week of October.
