BSF Inter-Frontier Athletics Meet to begin on Sep 16

Kolkata, Sep 14 (UNI) The 15th BSF Inter-Frontier Athletics Meet will begin at Salt Lake Stadium here from September 16 with participation of sportspersons belonging to 10 Frontiers.

Talking to mediapersons here today, IG, BSF, South Bengal Frontier (SBF) Somesh Goyal said in all 800 participants would take part in the three-day meet, organised by SBF.

Goyal said since BSF works in closer co-ordination with border population, a Marathon would be held along the border on September 18 which would start from Haridaspur and also terminate at the place.

''BSF, which is mandated to guard the borders has been taking active part in sports activities since its inception. It has produced a number of renowned sportspersons who had shown their worth during SAF, Commonwealth Games, Asian Games and Olympics,'' Goyal observed.

He hoped that budding talents would also emerge from the ensuing sports event.
