Gaya, Sep 14 (UNI) Four women from Uttar Pradesh were run over and killed by a speeding truck at Amas village on National Highway 34 near here yesterday, police today said.
Ten other passengers were injured and admitted to a local hospital where the condition of some was stated to be critical.
They said the mishap occurred when the victims were resting under a tree after the bus they were travelling in from Bahraich in UP, developed a snag. The bus was carrying more than 50 tourists to Gaya and Bodh Gaya.
The truck, coming from Gaya, first rammed into the bus before hitting the victims. Local people rushed to the spot, rescued the injured and sent them to hospitals.
The four deceased women, yet to be identified, died on the spot, the sources said adding none could be arrested as the truck driver fled.
