VHP registers protest against Union Govt's claim on Lord Ram

Nashik, Sep 13 (UNI) The city unit of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) today registered its protest against an affidavit filed by the Union Government claiming that there was no scientific proof of the existence of Lord Ram and Ramayana.

The VHP submitted a memorandum in this regard to the District Collector here.

The organisation, in its memorandum, stated that the Hindu community had strong faith both in Lord Ram and Ramayana. ''There is ample literature available to substantiate this. Many sants and mahants had written a lot about this.

''In such a situation, the move by the Central government is a stupid thing and we protest it,'' a VHP release here said.

Meanwhile, the BJP also submitted a memorandum protesting the Centre's move to the district collector.
