Teams from Sri Lanka, Bangalore & Chennai to play in Madras Colombo

Bangalore, Sep 13 (UNI) Defending Champions Chennai Cheetahs RFC, Colombo based Kurunegala RFC and Bangalore RFC will vye for top honours in the revived Madras Colombo Rugby Series to be held here on September 14 and 16.

Talking to newsmen here, South India Rugby Football Association (SIRFA) President Mohan Krishna said that Kurunegala RFC, ranked No three in the 'Division 2' in Sri Lanka and Bangalore RFC, Ranked No One in 2005, would clash for Bangalore Challenge Cup at Sri Kanteerava Stadium on September 14, holders and twice Winner of the All India South Asian tournament (2004 and 06) Chennai Cheetahs RFC would clash with Colombo team for Presidency Cup at the Corps of Military Police (CMP) Rugby grounds on September 16.

The historic tournament was sponsored by e4e, a global business service company offering world-class industry solutions.

The game would be played with 15 players each with seven substitutes. The match duration would be 80 minutes with a break of 10 minutes.

Mr Mohan Kumar said that with the Nationals being scheduled to be held from September 22 to 29 at Mumbai, Indian players would get good practice to improve upon to figure in the National team.

Phil woodward would be leading BRFC as the fly half with Indian National team players puneeth Krishnamoorthy, P E Subramani and Thimmaiah in the team, while International star V Emil would lead the Chennai Cheetahs from the front as the fly half with national players Vinayaga Moorthy, Sathish, Gopi and Nandagopal among others.
