Tata Sky crosses record one million customers mark in a year

Chandigarh, Sep 13 (UNI) Tata Sky, the joint venture between the Tata Group and STAR has crossed the one million connections mark in its first year of operations, the fastest by any DTH platform in the world, Chief Marketing Officer Vikram Mehra said here today.

Addressing a press conference here today, Mr Mehra said the achievement had vindicated the company's commitment to transform the way people watched television in India.

''We expect our subscriber growth to accelerate in the future and it is our endeavor to cross the 8 million mark in the next five year,'' Mr Mehra said .

''In the last one year, we have managed to create a distinct place for ourselves in the pay television market as well as in the minds of our consumers with our superior product offering, unparalleled customer service and continuous product innovations through our Active technology. Now, the Indian consumers have a world-class alternative to cable service,'' he claimed.

He said the company at present was offering more than 140 channels, the highest ever in the country, to its customers and would add more to the list in near future.

It had also launched Active Wizkids, the first-of-its-kind education based interactive service in the world that teaches children through learning games.
