By Staff

Panaji, Sep 13 (UNI) India's Ganasekhar Sathiya and Mallika Bhandarkar today clinched the Cadet boys and girls single title respectively at the Indian Junior Open Table Tennis Tournament, an ITTF World Junior circuit event, being played in Goa.

However, in the Junior category, Japan made a clean sweep clinching both the girls and boys title through Miuchi Kentaro and Wakamiya.

In the cadet boys category, Sathiya edged out countrymate Harmeet Desai 6-11, 11-3, 5-11, 11-6, 11-5 in nail-bitting final encounter.

It was an all Indian affair in the cadet girls finals too, with Mallika getting the better of fellow paddler Ankita Das 9-11,12-10, 11-7 4-11,11-5.

In junior girls final, Japan's Misako outclassed Delhi girl Neha Aggarwal 11-7, 7-11, 9-11, 11-8, 11-7, 11-5, while in the boys category Miuchi Kentaro had an easy victory over his team-mate Ueda Jin 11-8, 11-8, 11-9, 10-12, 13-11.

After her final loss a disappointing Neha, who recently won the All India Inter-Institutional Table Tennis Tournament in Delhi, blamed hersef for her defeat, saying she would have won the match had she controlled the game well.

''I have learnt my mistakes and have to improve a lot. It was a good expsoure playing with the international players here as I am going to China on September 15 to participate in the Asian Senior championship,'' Neha said.
