Hyderabad, Sep 13 (UNI) Police today said there was 'no official information' from Pakistan on the killing of Shahed, alias Bilal, the alleged mastermind behind the August 25 twin blasts and May 18 Mecca Masjid blasts in the city.
Media reports in Pakistan said the HUJI commander Shahed was killed in an encounter near Karachi on August 30.
Talking to newspersons here, city Police Commissioner Balwinder Singh said, ''we have no official information on the encounter of the terrorist who hailed from Hyderabad and operating terrorist activities from Bangladesh''.
Not ruling out that some organisations were trying to dilute the investigation process in connection with the blasts that claimed more than 50 lives, he said, ''we are investigating the cases to find out the conspiracy behind the blasts and to arrest all accused''.
Shahed's father, Vahed, said they had no information on the killing of his son. ''Police are harassing my family to know the whereabouts of Shahed. We do not have any information about him since 2003 when he left home.'' Meanwhile, the city police have tightened security at all religious places, bus stations, railway stations and other public places to avoid any untoward incidents..
More than 25,000 police personnel were deployed in the city and frisking and vehicle checkings intensified.
Interpol had issued a red corner notice against Shahed six months ago. He was suspected to have transported more than 10 kg RDX in the city to trigger blasts.
