Mobiles brings security to children: Ameen

Bangalore, Sep 13 (UNI) Sending children to school with Mobile phones will reduce the threat perception of security, Mr Manzoor Ameen, Circle Operating Officer, Tata Teleservices Ltd, Karntaka Circle, opined here today.

Speaking to newsmen after launching Country's first Mobile Web Browser in association with Samsung India, here today Mr Ameen was reacting to Karantaka Government's decision to ban the use of Cell Phones in the premises of Education Institutions upto XII standard.

He said School Children going to school with Cell Phones will provide some relief to the parents as far as their safety was concerned. "Six-year-old my daughter carry a cell phone to school and it also helps me to reduce concern over her safety" he said.

Referring about the mentioning of health hazards that causes to children Mr Ameen informed that "There was no any established feedback on the said health hazard".

It may be recalled that the Karnataka government has decided to ban the use of cell phones within the premises of Education institutions upto 12th standard. The Government also decided to instruct the Cell Phone companies not to sell mobile phones to children below the age group of 16.

Replying to another question Mr Ameen also clarified that his company which beleives in the practice of high standard of principles never resorted to any kind of tax evasion.

The opposition leader in the Karnaaka Legislative Council Mr H K Patil had alleged that many telecom companies in Karnataka were evading in paying sales taxes which amounted to revenue loss of hundreds of crores to the state exchequer. Mr Patil also petitioned the President of India Pratibha Patil on the issue recently.
