Lucknow, Sep 13(UNI) In a departure from BSP's established stand, Uttar Pradesh government today announced modified Dr Ambedkar Rural Integrated Development programme which will cover 19000 Gram Sabhas on the basis of general population rather than SC and ST population.

Vowing to stick to the newly found BSP's slogan of 'Sarva Jan Hitay, Sarva Jan Sukhay (For the welfare of all ), the chief minister today unvield an ambitious integrated development scheme whose first phase to be completed by the end of this financial year.

With an aim to boost all round development of rural infrastructure in the state, the overall development in as many as 17,100 Gram Sabhas would be ensured in the next financial years under the scheme. ''Under the Dr Ambedkar Gramin Samagra Vikas Yojana, five each Gram Sabhas with highest and lowest population would be selected from every constituency in every financial year for integrated development,''Ms Mayawati told a crowded press conference here at her official residence.

Asserting that the effort would usher in a new era of prosperity and progress, she said after this ten each Gram sabhas would be slected and all of them would be saturated with basic facilities.

The CM made it clear that her party was not limiting its activities for Dalits only and this departure from the policy would ensure uniform development.

She said that in view of the financial constraints, the scheme would be implemented in five phases and the development would be ensured in 380 rural as well as 23 urban Assembly constituencies alike.

The earlier such scheme was being implemented by the Dr Ambedkar Gram Vikas Department which would now be redesignated as Dr Ambedkar Gramin Samagra Vikas Department.

Blaming the earlier regime for not completing and maintaining the works under Ambedkar Gram Vikas Yojana, Ms Mayawati said her government did not believe in political discrimination and had directed the officials to complete pending works of 19000 Ambedkar villages by December 31 before launching the first phase of this new scheme from January.

The activities of 13 government departments would be integrated into this scheme to remove regional and areawise imbalances and to ensure uniform development allround, she said.
