Kerala Kaumudi completes nine years of existence in Bangalore
Bangalore, Sep 13 (UNI) Kerala Kaumudi, one of the major Malayalam newspapers of Kerala, will start its Gulf Edition from Dubai during next year, it was announced here today.
Speaking to newsmen Kerala Kaumudi Managing Editor Deepu Ravi and Executive Editor B C Jojo said a survey had already been in progress to ascertain the readership. There was a stiff competition in the region with the presence of four Malayalam newspapers already, he added.
Replying to a question they said there were over 30 lakh Malayalam speaking people living in the Gulf. They said Kerala Kaumudi Bangalore Edition had completed nine years of its existence.
The ninth anniversary celebrations would be inaugurated by Kerala Food and Civil Supplies Minister C Diwakaran on September 16.
Karnataka Legislative Council Chairman B K Chandrasekhar would preside over the function.
The opening ceremony would be followed by a cultural mega show named 'Moonlight'. The leading participants of the show included among other Vineet Srinivasan, Jairaj Warrior and others. South Indian film stars Padmapriya and Vimala Raman were also expected to attend the inaugural.
Kerala Kaumudi, established by one of the reformers of Kerala C V Kunjiraman in 1911 had completed 96 years of fruitful existence. It had eight editions in Kerala and its mid day paper 'Flash' had seven editions.
