GSM subscriber base reaches 14.77 crore in August

New Delhi, Sep 13 (UNI) The GSM subscriber base reached 14,77,02,024 mark in August, with the addition of 59,54,558 new users during the month.

The Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) today said its subscriber addition grew by 4.20 per cent in August.

Bharti Tele-Ventures Ltd, the largest private GSM player, added 20,51,354 new mobile users during the month, taking its total wireless user base to 4,68,14,745 with a market share of 31.70 per cent. Vodafone Essar reported an addition of 16,78,111 new users, taking the market share to 23.10 per cent with the total subscriber base at 3,41,15,195.

The state-owned BSNL added 7,25,392 users, taking its total base to 2,97,04,426 and a market share of 20.11 per cent.

Idea with a market share of 12.10 per cent, added 8,66,629 subscribers, taking its total base to 1,78,70,956. Aircel added 4,58,408 users, taking its total base to 76,20,508 and a market share of 5.16 per cent.

MTNL added a total of 60,117 users, taking its total base to 27,29,090 and a market share of 1.85 per cent.

UNI
