Jamshedpur, Sep 13 (UNI) Tata Steel Adventure Foundation (TSAF) is organising a 10-day High Altitude Himalayan Trek to Adi Kailash and Om Prabhat in Kumaon Himalaya.
TSAF secretary P P Kapadia told newspersons here today that the 21-member expedition team, which included five women and a visually challenged trekker would start here form tomorrow while the acutal expedition would start from Dharchula on September 17.
Kapadia said the trekking, which is being organised in commemoration of the centenary year of the steel major, would be undertaken for the first time in the Kumaon region near the Indo-Tibetian border and would peak 1600 ft during the jounrney in the mountains.
He said all members of the expedition team were Tata Steel employees and had an experience in trekking at 13,000 feet in the Himalaya. They would be assisted by a five-member support team of TSAF during the expedtion, he added.
Mr Kapadia said the legendary moutaineer Bachendri Pal was supposed to lead the team but due to some personal reasons she would skip the trip.
He said, ''The aim of the expedition will be to keep alive the spirit of adventure among the employees and also to motivate them to adopt a healthy life style to enhance the quality of life and to take risks and challenges of life in a sporting way.'' UNI
