Dasara Elephant creates panic during rehearsal
Mysore, Sept 13 (UNI) A Dasara elephant, during rehearsal for Dasara Procession, created panic among the people, including tourists for some time, by running amok in the Mysore Palace premises today.
According to forest officials, the 52 year-old Gajendra was rehearsing pulling the historical Wooden Chariot which it has to pull during Jamboo Savari, to follow Golden Howdah, all of a sudden ran abruptly and ended his run after hitting the chariot's iron rod after damaging one wheel and yoke.
The Mahout, who was totally taken aback over the elephant's behaviour, later took the Elephant to its shed.
It was stated that a female elephant Varalakshmi, which was walking along with Gajendra played some mischieves act which led to the incident.
