Congress(S) urges Centre to scrap Indo-US nuke deal

Tiruchirapalli, Sep 13 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu unit of Congress(S) today urged the Centre to scrap the Indo-US nuclear deal as it would pose a threat to the nation's security and sovereignty.

In a statement here, Congress(S) state General Secretary Lalgudi Prabhakaran said a resolution to this effect was passed at the party's state executive held here yesterday.

He said the party executive hailed Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee's decision to cut the daily allowance of the members, who disrupted the proceedings of the House.

The executive also urged the Centre to find a solution to the inter-state water dispute.

It also appealed to Tamil Nadu government to set up the proposed Titanium dioxide plant on its own and take over the cable TV operations in the state.
