7 persons arrested in Mulund robbery case

Mumbai, Sep 13 (UNI) The Mumbai police have arrested seven persons allegedly involved in last month's robbery in a Mulund household in central Mumbai.

The Additional Commissioner of Police (East) Hemant Nagrale said that all the seven suspects, including the servant of the house, were nabbed from Madhubani district of Bihar. However, two more persons involved in the case are still absconding.

The arrested persons have been identified as Ganesh Ramchandra Mukhiya (20), Naresh Subhe Mukhiya (27), Bhishan Suryanarayan Mukhiya (28), Dinesh Subhe Mukhiya (27), Arun Laxmi Mukhiya (17), Sanjay Bachelal Mukhiya (17) and Suraj Laxmi Mukhiya (16).

Earlier, on August 31, the main accused Ganesh who was employed with the Gupta family as a servant, entered the house accompanied by eight to nine of his friends, when the male members of the family had gone out.

Subsequently, Ganesh and his companions overpowered the female family members and tied them up before committing the robbery, Mr Nagrale said.

The seven accused looted gold, silver and diamonds worth Rs 26 lakh. Some of the valuables have been recovered after the arrests, he added.
