10th Edition of Bridal Asia attracts 80 participants
Bangalore, Sep 13 (UNI) Increase in purchasing power among the middle class is fueling a phenomenal growth in bridal wear across the country with the youth of the day preferring choicy fashion wear yet not ignoring the tradition attached to the occasion.
The Rs 25,000 crore estimated market was witnessing a 25 per cent growth annually and is attracting even international design houses in view of the increasing demand for renowned labels.
The increasing awareness and demand for exclusive designs is also witnessing a boom among event managers and one such event Bridal Asia, is celebrating its tenth edition.
To be held in New Delhi for three days from October 16, Bridal Asia, is considered a fashion mecca and its CEO Divya Gurwara told UNI that this year nearly 30,000 visitors were expected at the show which is now considered a one stop shop for the entire requirements of a wedding.
She said that as many as 80 exhibitors, including four from Pakistan would be present at the show which besides clothes would also have jewellery, home furnishing, chocolates and packing, shoes and dinner ware. Famous fashion designers who would be seen in action at the three day wedding fashion extravaganza included Sabyasachi Mukherjee, Malini Ramani, Malaga, Rina Dhaka, Pallavi Jaikishan, Vinita Pittie from Hyderabad.
Ms Guruwara said that only 20 per cent of the total exhibitors were new ones with the balance being repeaters.
Though visitors were predominantly from North India, the percentage of those who keenly look to the event from other parts of the country including Bangalore, Chennai, Kolkatta and Mumbai was on the increase. It offered them a one stop choice to plan out their wedding purchases.
She said though initially it started as a business to consumer event, Bridal Asia has also emerged a business to business event with a number of business visitors from the US, UK, Middle East and Africa making a beeline.
She said '' it has been a long journey, but it never enervates me rather excites me as every time there is something avant grade that exudes novelty and enthuses me to work even harder''.
