SCEL to hold 10 % market share in PC, notebook vertical

New Delhi, Sep 12 (UNI) Sahara Computers and Electronics Ltd (SCEL) today said it will increase its market share to 10 per cent in both PC and note book market over the next two years and augment its manufacturing capacity to five thousand units by December-end.

The company will also scale up its sale of PCs and notebooks to two lakh units and 1.2 lakh units respectively in FY 2007-08.

''We are expecting to increase our market share to 10 per cent in both personal computer and note book segment in our vision 2009 ,'' company's Chief Operating Officer George Van Der Merwe told reporters during the launch of its new range of PCs and Laptops.

Currently, the company's market share in the personal computer vertical is 4.8 per cent while it is 5.8 per cent in note book sector.

''Presently, we manufacture 2,000 units a day at our Noida plant, which we will increase to 5,000 units per day,'' Mr Merwe added.

SCEL will commission its second manufacturing plant in Roorkee by December-end.

Sahara Computers and Electronics Ltd, a joint venture partnership between the South African IT major Sahara Computers (Pty) Ltd and Sahara India Pariwar, works with the channel partners in India.

Currently, SCEl has in excess of 6,500 channel partners across the country.
