Islamabad, Sep 12: Pakistani troops today attacked militants in the North Waziristan region on the Afghan border with helicopters and artillery, killing up to 40 of them, a military spokesman said.
''They held positions on the mountains from where they carried out attacks on military convoys,'' said the spokesman, Major-General Waheed Arshad.
''Thirty to forty militants have been killed,'' he said, adding that ground troops were moving in to clear the area.
