No ''clandestine'' understanding with govt : Left
New Delhi, Sep 12: A day after the UPA-Left committee on the Indo-US nuclear deal held its first meeting, the Left parties dismissed all speculation about the inevitability of a mid-term polls early next year because of the perceived ''irreconcilable differences'' between the Congress and the communists.
Emphasising that they were taking the setting up of the panel and its agenda ''very seriously'', top Left leaders were hopeful the mechanism would be able to resolve differences between the two sides on the nuclear deal.
They also made it clear that the Left had not entered into ''clandestine'' understanding with the government that they would allow the ''uneasy truce'' to persist till the US Congress takes up the issue for its final approval after the finalisation of negotiations with the IAEA and the NSG.
