Chandigarh, Sep 12 (UNI) Top amateur golfers will compete in the three-day IndianOil 28th PSPS Inter-Unit Golf Tournament to be played at the 72-par Chandigarh Golf Course here from tomorrow.
Addressing a press conference here today, IndianOil general manager R Malhotra said, the PSPS Inter-Unit Golf would begin with a one-day Stableford event followed by the two-day main event which would be played on strokeplay format.
''The meet is the most prestigious event on the Inidan Golf Union's amateur calendar'', he said.
Defending champions IndianOIl will be led by Gagan Verma, who had finished at top in the invidual competitions last year. OIL India is being piolated by Simarjeet Singh. Saurabh Bhaguna, Vikram Rana and Jaskeerat Singh Dullet.
Malhotra said that Jasjeet Singh, who has represented the country, will be the player to watch from GAIL while Tarun Ghogale and Amit Nigam will spearhead the BPCL challenge.
Each team will comprise a minimum of three players and maximum of five. Three best scores would be counted towards the team's total and two days total will decide the team championship.
An individual strokeplay competition will further add to the excitment of the event.
In addition to the team and individual competitions, there will be a separate competitions for teams in the handicap category while other interesting skills competitions like longest drive and approach shot and many more will ensure all the participants are kept enthused, he said.
As many as 95 top amateur golfers will take part in the IndianOil 28th PSPS Inter-Unit Golf Tournament.
