Jaipur, Sep 12 (UNI) The Gujjar Reservation Action Committee today said the issue of extension of term to Justice Jasraj Chopra Committee has to be decided by the government and it has no locus standi in the matter.
Action Committee Spokesman Dr Roop Singh told UNI that the grant of term extension to the three member committee, constituted to examine the Gujjar community's demand for ST status, was the sole prerogative of the state government.
Dr Singh said the action committee was to do nothing so far as the committee's term extension was concerned and it was only concerned with the three-month compromise with the state government, which expires today.
''After expiry of the deadline of the three months written compromise the action committee would be at liberty to take its strategy'', he said, adding they had already finalised their future strategy and programme which will be announced at the Mahapanchayat in Dholpur tomorrow.''We have already conveyed this to the state government'', Mr Singh said.
However, whatsoever action the committee would take it would be absolutely peaceful and democratic, he clarified.
Meanwhile, informal discussion between action committee Convenor Col Kirodi Singh Bainsla and representatives of the government continued here today.
During talks with BJP Treasurer and sitting MP Ramdas Agrawal and BJP General Secretary Om Mathur yesterday, Col Bainsla had assured that he would reply on Wednesday, to the state government's letter sent to him seeking his views on move of extension in term of the Chopra Committee.
Meanwhile, the action commitee leaders were busy in Djolpur in making arrangements for smooth conduction of Mahapanchayat there tomorrow.
