Bhopal, Sep 12 (UNI) Equating the Ram Setu controversy with Taj Corridor scam, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today said Ram Setu was associated with the country's faith and the state government had performed its duty of maintaining law and order during VHP-sponsored traffic blockade.
Mr Chouhan told reporters here that it was not only an issue of nation's faith but it was also a burning topic on development perspective.
''Do we prefer to demolish historical monuments like Taj Mahal and Qutub Minar to clear space for roads? Similarly, demolition of Adam's Bridge for the Setusamundram project will not be tolerated'', he said, adding ''we have to refix our development priorities''.
Mr Chouhan alleged ''the Setusamudram Project was an even graver than the Taj Corridor scandal''.
Asked about the Congress attempt for lodging an FIR against state government for supporting Vishwa Hindu Parishad's 'chakkajam' agitation, he said it was politically motivated.
''Police officials had been deployed to maintain law and order during the traffic blockade,'' Mr Chouhan addded.
