ABJS demands Vishwakarma Day be declared as National Labour Day
New Delhi, Sept 12 (UNI) The Akhil Bharatiya Jana Sangh (ABJS) has requested President Pratibha Patil to declare ''Vishwakarma Day'' as National Labour Day and a National Holiday as well.
In a letter to Mrs Patil, the Kolkata unit of the organisation claimed Vishwakarma was not a deity ''but a live being who actually is the father of invention of all technology that we have inherited, as is recorded in the ancient texts.'' It noted that all citizens, irrespective of their religion, caste and creed, perform prayers to Lord Vishwakarma on a particular day in their workplace, be it a tiny factory or a large government establishments.
