Hyderabad, Aug 27: Opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) today urged Andhra Pradesh Governor N D Tiwari to take immediate and appropriate action to restore peace and stability, law and order in the State to instill confidence in the minds of the people.

TDP President N Chandrababu Naidu, along with party polit bureau members, submitted a memorandum to the Governor, urging him to use his powers as the head of the State to protect the people.

The memorandum alleged that the law and order had completely broken down in the State, with several alarming incidents occurring in the last three years. However, the Congress Government had not taken any precautionary measure to check the incidents.

It alleged that the Government had not taken any preventive action despite the intelligence agencies tipping off the State three days prior to the twin blasts here on August 25. The Government's inability had cost 42 people their lives and the Government machinery failed to rise up to the situation, he added.

Claiming that Hyderabad had become a safe haven for anti-social elements, the memorandum said the increasing anti-social and terrorist activities had brought down the reputation of the city and the State in the last couple of years, thus becoming detrimental to its growth and development.

Later talking to newspersons here, Mr Naidu demanded the immediate resignation of Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, stating that he had no right to continue after failing to protect the lives of people in the State.

The TDP chief said the Governor told him that he would study the representation and do the needful.
