Announcing this here today, Samyukth Sridharan, Chief Commercial Officer, Spicejet Ltd, said apart from adding Port Blair as its 16th destination, the airline would also introduce a direct flight from Kolkata to Bangalore from October.
Mr Sridharan said, ''Besides connecting Port Blair and Bangalore, Spicejet has also decided to resume direct flight between Kolkata and Delhi from the last week of this month.'' ''We have decided to start our services to Port Blair looking at the large chunk of travellers and also to increase the existing scope of travel modes available to Port Blair,'' Mr Sridharan observed.
''We are financially very strong to support our operations and also the first low-cost carrier in the country to breakeven in the first quarter posting a net profit of Rs 18.5 crore and the total income registering a growth of 77 per cent at Rs 311 crores,'' he said.
Mr Sridharan informed that the airline would add more new Boeing aircrafts this year and the increased fleet size would help it in increasing more destinations to its existing network.
The airline is also focussing on ancillary services along with in-flight promotions such as brand promotions, selling food on-board and on-board courier, he added.
