Monsoon remains subdued in Punjab, Haryana

Chandigarh, Aug 27 (UNI) Monsoon remained subdued in Punjab and Haryana and sultry weather conditions prevailed at most places in the region today.

However, parts of Himachal Pradesh experienced light rain since last night, dipping the temperatures in the state.

Barring the Nangal Dam site in Punjab, a dry spell continued in the plains, leading to hot and humid weather conditions. The dam site recorded 6.8 mm downpour while Patiala reported trace rainfall overnight.

A dry spell also prevailed in Haryana, where monsoon played truant, except Gullah which received 2 mm rain. Ambala, too, had trace rainfall.

However, rain lashed isolated places in Himachal Pradesh overnight. Berthin recorded 7.4 mm and Solang Nala 4.0 mm rainfall till this morning. Una, Gamroor, Bhang-Manali and Dhundi areas also had rainfall.

Parts of the Jammu region were lashed by light to moderate rain.

Jammu, recorded 18.6 mm donwpour overnight.

Humid weather conditions prevailed in Chandigarh following light showers. The city received 0.2 mm rain overnight.

The Met Office predicted light to moderate rain or thundershowers at a few places in Himachal Pradesh and Haryana and isolated places in Punjab during the next 24 hours.
