Maid of Planning Commission official hangs self in Lodhi Colony
New Delhi, Aug 27 (UNI) A 13-year-old girl, working in the house of a Planning Commission official, allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself at a hostel in Lodhi Colony area of New Delhi district.
Taposi, who hailed from West Bengal, was found hanging from the ceiling fan at the 'Pragati Vihar Hostel', a residential complex in Lodhi Colony's 'E' block, according to sources.
She was noticed hanging by the son of Rabin Majumdar, who runs a consultancy firm, at about 1130 hrs.
Rabin, who also hails from West Bengal, also lives in the complex.
The girl, who had been left by her parents at Majumdar's home about six months back, had been in depression for some time and would often behave in a strange manner.
Just a couple of days back, she had talked to her parents in West Bengal and refused to return, sources added.
The reason for the alleged suicide is yet to be known and no suicide note has been found, said the police.
Majumdar's wife is deputy secretary in the Planning Commission.
