Karnataka government to shorten Nadageethe version

Mysore, Aug 27 (UNI) Karnataka Minister for Kannada and Culture H R Mahadev Prasad today said that the State government has decided to shorten the Nadageethe (State Anthem) version.

Speaking after presenting the Awards for 2006, he said that the present version of Nadageethe was longer and required shorter version.

He said that an expert committee has been constituted for the purpose and immediately after getting the report a final decision would be taken.

The Minister reiterated the State government's commitment to establish a Music University in Mysore and a Music College at Dharwad for Hindustani Music.

Mr Prasad presented the following awards: Chowdaiah award to Mr G Ramabhadran of Tamil Nadu, Kanakapurandra award to Prof Ramanathan, Dr G V Malathamma received Gubbi Veeranna award. Mr K G Hobli Varnashilpa Venkatappa Award, Mr Eshwarappa Rudrappa Angadi, Janapradarshi Award, Mr K B Madavarao Shanthala Natya Award, Mr B N Channappa Acharya, Jakanacharya Award, Dana Chintamani Award to former Karnataka Minister B T Lalitha Naik.
