Fortis to set up Rs 800cr super-specialty hospital in Gurgaon

New Delhi, Aug 27 (UNI) Leading private healthcare and a Ranbaxy promoter group company Fortis Healthcare Ltd today said it will invest Rs 800 crore to set up a seven-star multi super-specialty hospital 'Fortis International Institute of Medical Sciences (FIIMS) in Gurgaon.

''We will invest Rs 800 crore to set up FIIMS in two phases, spread over 10.7 acre land with built up area of 13 lakh sq ft,'' company's Chief Executive (Projects and Consultancy) C M Bhasin told reporters here.

Of the total 950-bedded hospital, 350 will be built in the first phase with 34 per cent of the total investment which will be completed in the next two and half years, Dr Bhasin said.

The whole project will be funded equally through debt and equity instruments and is expected to be completed in next four years.

The company's other projects in the pipeline include construction of a hospital in Jaipur with the total investment of Rs 200 crore.

''Out of this, we have already spent Rs 110 crore and the rest 90 crore will be invested in the next one and a half years,'' company's President (Strategy and Organisational Development) Daljit Singh said.

The hospital will be constructed in two phases, first phase having 164 beds, followed by 350 beds in the second phase.

The company has also commenced construction of a 260-bedded hospital in Shalimar Bagh here, with total investment Rs 220 crore, spread over 7.34 acres land.

The company presently has 12 hospitals in Northern India with 2,000 beds and has operations in Delhi, Jaipur, Noida, Mohali (Chandigarh), Amritsar, Faridabad, Raipur and Srinagar.
