Former Legislator arrested for molestation, out on bail

Malda, Aug 27 (UNI) Former CPI(M) MLA Prakash Minj, arrested on charges of molestation from Malda Town station midnight last night, was today released on bail by a local court here.

General Railway Police here today said Mr Minj, former Legislator of Phansidawa Constituency in Jalpaiguri district, was arrested following a complaint lodged by army officer M P Devgun.

The SDJM court released the Legislator on bail after being produced before it.

Mr Devgun, a defence officer based in Kolkata, in his FIR stated that Minj had allegedly molested his wife inside the AC compartment of Down Darjeeling Mail last night. He alleged the ex-MLA was in an inebriated state and was creating trouble inside the compartment.

He also passed lewd comments to other female co-passengers, GRP officer Swapan Das said.
