Patna, Aug 27 (UNI) The flood situation in some areas of Bihar worsened again as fresh areas were inundated in Samastipur, Begusarai and Muzaffarpur districts after embankments of the rivers were breached at several places.

Reports received here from Samastipur said the Noon river breached its embankments at several places, inundating several villages of Sarairanjan and Morwa blocks.

The surging Noon river also inundated several villages in Patori and Tajpur blocks, where the flood situation had turned grim.

The communication of the affected villages with the district headquarter had been snapped by the flood water.

Train services between Samastipur and Muktapur stations remained disrupted as the tracks on the route were submerged by flood water.

A report from Muzaffarpur district said the flood situation in Saraia, Aurai and Katara blocks had deteriorated as embankments had breached due to the surging water of the rivers in the area.

The Jhajha river breached its embankment, submerging Rampur Balli village and other surrounding areas affecting thousands of people in the region.

The pressure on embankments of the Bagmati and Lakhandei rivers had increased as both rivers were maintaining the rising trend.

In Begusarai district, Manjhaul and Bakhri blocks were the worst affected by the flood, while rescue and relief operations had been stepped up by the district administration after Chief Minister Nitish Kumar visited the affected areas of the district.

A report of Central Water Commission said all the major rivers in the district were still flowing above the red mark across the State.
