Five hundred athletes cleared of doping at worlds

By Staff

OSAKA, Japan, Aug 27 (Reuters) Five hundred athletes have been tested at the world championships over the past seven days and not one has tested positive for doping, organisers said today.

There have been 195 tests of urine and 363 blood tests. Of the 500 athletes, some have been tested more than once.

A record 1,000 dope tests will be conducted at the world championships between Aug. 25 and Sept. 2, the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) said earlier this month.

The previous highest number of tests had been 885 at the 2005 Helsinki championships.
