New Delhi, Aug 27 (UNI) Finding complaints of gross mismangement and incompetence against the Durgah Committee, Ajmer, as true, the Central Government has dissolved the body and made fresh appointments.

It is for the first time in the history of Ajmer durgah that its management committee has been superseded.

The step follows an inquiry into its affairs.

The new members have taken charge from yesterday.

The Minoriy Affairs Ministry took the step because the previous committee had failed to properly manage the affairs of the Durgah Khwaja Saheb, secretary of the Ministry M N Prasad told UNI.

The action was taken as the Government felt that continuation of the previous body would be against the interests of the durgah, he said.

''The committee has been unable to prevent large scale encroachment and unauthorised occupation in the durgah premises and has failed to maintain a suitable atmosphere in the premises,'' said the Ministry in its order dissolving the committee and constituting the new one.

''The committee has also failed to work as a cohesive entity, its decision making process being severely affected by rift, dissension and pursuit of contradictory intersts,'' said the notification.

Acccording to sources, the measure had been decided long back, but was kept on hold as the Law Ministry was being consulted. The Minorities Affairs Ministry was taking all cares to ensure that the step was not challenged in the court by the members of the previous committee.

It is for this reason that the decision for supersession of the committee was made know to the people in Ajmer only yesterday and new members were called to take charge the same day, a strategy that prevented the members of the previous committee from going to court.

The new members are Nawab Mohammad Abdul Ali(Chennai), Haji Hafiz Wakil Ahmad(Sultanpur), Mohammad Ilyas Qadri(Ajmer), Prof Ibraheem(new Delhi), Sohail Ahmad Khan(Patna), A H Khan Chowdhary(New Delhi), Mohammad Suhel Mohiyuddin Tirmizi(Ahmedabad), Badruddin Ghulamuddin Shaikh(Ahmedabad) and Ghole Ismail Muallim(Raigarh).
