LONDON, Aug 27 (Reuters) Argentine Angel Cabrera, Padraig Harrington of Ireland and South Africa's Retief Goosen have entered the 5 million dollars Champions Tournament in Shanghai.
US Openwinner Cabrera, British Open champion Harrington and world number 17 Goosen will join the likes of Phil Mickelson, Ernie Els, Vijay Singh and Sergio Garcia at the November 8-11 event dubbed 'Asia's major'.
''It is my first time playing in the tournament and I would be very happy to win the champion of champions title,'' said Cabrera in a news release today.
''I think it is a very good concept, inviting the winners from the different tours.'' Harrington is hoping to improve on his sixth-place finish at the Sheshan International Golf Club last year.
''The Champions has one of the strongest fields of the year outside the majors and it would be a great event to win,'' said the Irishman.
Yang Yong-eun has also confirmed he will be back to defend his title.
Last year he became only the second South Korean to win on the European Tour, following KJ Choi, when he held off an elite field which included Goosen, Jim Furyk and Tiger Woods.
The Shanghai event is co-sanctioned by the European Tour, Asian Tour, the PGA Tour of Australasia, the Sunshine Tour and the China Golf Association.
