Brahmins call for Jaipur bandh on Aug 29
Jaipur, Aug 27 (UNI) Sarv Brahmin Mahasabha (SBM), an organisation spearheading the demand for quotas for Brahmins in Rajasthan, has called for a Jaipur bandh on August 29.
Suresh Mishra, president, SBM, said the bandh has been called in protest against the police lathicharge on their rally on August 19.
Demanding compensation for those injured in the rally, they also want the fake cases lodged against those particpating in the rally be withdrawn.
The rally was organised to demand reservation for Brahmins on economic basis. The Brahmins wanted to meet Chief Minster Vasundhara Raje but were stopped by the police and lathicharged leading to outrage among the community.
Mr Mishra said at least 100 teams would be formed which would go round the city and urge everyone to observe the bandh.
