Srinagar, July 25 (UNI) Three militant outfits -- Al Badr, Al Madina Regiment and Al Nasireen -- have imposed a ban on four local cable channels operating in the Kashmir valley.

In a statement to the local media here, Al Badr spokesman Abu Atif Hijazi said a joint meeting of the representatives of the three militant groups was held here on Monday.

The meeting unanimously decided to impose a ban of four local cable channels, he added.

The spokesman said the cable operators should immediately stop beaming programmes.

This was the third time since last year that the militants have imposed a ban on cable operators.

Earlier on May 28 this year, Al Badr imposed the ban on cable operators after they continued to air obscene channels despite directions by the militant outfit.

Before that on May 10 last year, the cable operates in Kashmir stopped beaming all news and entertainment channels following a similar ban by the militants.
