Kaithal, July 25 (UNI) A two member team of the National Commission for Women(NCW) today visited Karora village of the district to gather facts and take stock of the situation arising out of the alleged murder of two young lovers, Manoj and Babli, last month.

The members of the team, Malini Bhattacharya and Yasmin Abrar, met the relatives of Manoj, where his mother, Chanderpati, complained that the villagers had boycotted their family to punish them for the acts of their deceased son who married a girl from same gotra.

She complained that the villagers were not selling even daily household requirements like milk and fodder to them.

The team members assured the family that the commission would ensure full security for them.

The commission members also met the village sarpanch and other villagers. The sarpanch claimed that Manoj's family was not being boycotted and the villagers had full sympathy with his family.

However, in the meeting, Babli's relatives and some villagers expressed the view that whatever the boy and the girl did was "improper" as they were from the same Banwala gotra in Jat community and therefore, their relationship was that of brother and sister.

The team members as well as Kaithal DC Rajinder Kataria and SP Rajendra Singh appealed to the villagers to maintain peace and harmony in the village.
