Ahmedabad, July 23: Tension gripped communally sensitive Shahpur area of the walled city late night as a locally made crude-bomb was hurled at a small crowd following a minor scuffle between members of two different communities.
According to the police sources, the incident of hurling the crude-bomb took place around 2200 hours when members of two different communities indulged into a minor scuffle when a pedestrian was hit by a motor cyclist of another community.
However, the police on duty posted in the locality swiftly swung into action and brought the situation under control.
Senior police officials had also rushed to the spot to take stock of the situation and to ease the communal tension in the area.
Police patrolling have also been intensified in the area. No arrests have been made so far, police sources added.
