HDK discusses terror situation with Home Minister
New Delhi, July 13: Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy today discussed 'unofficially' with Home Minister Shivraj Patil the terror threat in the state and sought higher central allocations for empowering the police force to tackle the militants.
Speaking to mediapersons after his meeting with Mr Patil, Mr Kumaraswamy said the state had provided full information to the Centre but was not forthcoming with information on the sensitive nature of crime involved.
''State Director General of Police K R Sreenivasan was with us but the issue did not come up for discussion,'' Mr Kumaraswamy said.
He said the State Home Department and Intelligence Departments were well geared up to take on the challenge and that he can not disclose the details of the measures sought to be taken.
''You can be rest assured that the 'Brand Bangalore' is not going to take a hit,'' he added.
He declined to react on the developments in Australia where Mohammed Haneef is all set to be freed by the police authorities as they seemed to have no evidence against the detainee. He was detained while leaving Brisbane. Two of his close relatives have also been arrested in Britain in connection with the failed Glasgow bombing attempt.
