Jammu-Srinagar National Highway blocked
Jammu, July 2: More than 500 vehicles, including the Amarnath yatra convoy, were stranded on the 300-km-long Jammu-Srinagar National Highway which was blocked due to landslides at several places in Ramban district today, official sources said.
The night-long rains in the area triggerred landslides at six to seven points on National Highway (NH-IA), blocking vehicular movement between the two parts of Jammu and Kashmir, sources said.
''there were heavy landslides at 150, 151 and 158 km,'' sources told sources.
The first batch of Amarnath yatris, which left for the cave shrine in 73 vehicles this morning, halted at various places at batote, sources said.
The work to clear the route was going on a war footing, they said.
