Over 37 lakh tonne wheat arrives In Haryana mandis

Chandigarh, Jun 16 (UNI) A total of 37.09 lakh tonnes of wheat arrived in Haryana mandis till yesterdaty, which was the last day of purchase by the government procuring agencies during the current procurement season.

Six government agencies have procured a total of 33.46 lakh tonnes of wheat, which was 11.16 lakh tonnes more than the previous year, Deputy Chief Minister Chander Mohan said today.

About 90 per cent of the total arrival of wheat had been purchased by the government procuring agencies and ten per cent by the traders.

He said 12.89 lakh tonnes of wheat was procured by Hafed, 8.13 lakh tonnes by the Food and Supplies Department, 3.49 lakh tonnes by Food Corporation of India, 3.33 lakh tonnes by Haryana Agro-Industries Corporation, 2.93 lakh tonnes by Haryana Warehousing Corporation and 2.66 lakh tonnes by Confed.
