Haryana considers setting up Korfball Academy

Chandigarh, Jun 16 (UNI) The Haryana government will consider a proposal to set up a Korfball Academy in the state to popularise the game in the region.

This was stated by Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda while speaking at the closing ceremony of 8th Sub-Junior Korfball National Championship at Punjab University Campus here today.

Haryana defeated Himachal Pradesh by 15:14 to win the championship. The Uttrakhand team was ranked third.

Responding to the proposal made by Asian Federation of Korfball Association President M C Gupta to set up a Korfball academy in Haryana, Mr Hooda said the proposal would be considered.

Mr Hooda also gave away prizes to the winners and also announced to give Rs two lakh to the Haryana Korfball Association.

It was also announced that the 9th Sub-Junior Korfball National Championship would be organised in Rohtak.

About 380 participants from 21 states participated in the five-day championship which started on June 12 and was organised by the Chandigarh Korfball Association and the Panjab University, Chandigarh.
