Shutter Todwa gang consists of 200 members

Jabalpur, MP, June 7 (UNI) More than 200 youths of Ghorasan village in Bihar's East Champaran region are the members of notorious 'Shutter Todwa' gang, whose 15 members were arrested on Tuesday.

Superintendent of Police Siddharth Choudhary said most gang members were 20-25 years old.

The members of the gang used to form separate groups and remained in constant touch with each other.

Each group had four-five members with long-standing experience in committing thefts, dacoity and loot. Besides, the group included two-three educated members for getting tasks like reservation of tickets, booking of hotel rooms, etc done.

Four members of the gang have become prominent persons in Ghorasan village. They include Gangasagar, a wholesale cloth trader.

Though these people pretended to have some other business, they are allegedly involved in selling stolen materials in Nepal and Bangladesh.

Mr Choudhary said gang members used to board a hotel of a particular city and then select a big shop. The members carried out theft in the wee hours and immediately leave for the next city.

The gang had committed more than 50 thefts in New Delhi and over 25 thefts in Jabalpur apart from over 200 thefts across cities like Mumbai, Jammu, Pune, Amritsar, Patiala, Ludhiana, Nasik, Shirdi, Nagpur, Aurangabad, Bhopal, Satna and Katni.

Jabalpur police nabbed the accused when they were planning to commit dacoity at a bungalow at Gol Bazar area in the cantonment town.

Besides Rs 55,000, 60 kg hemp, 18 watches, worth Rs 5,000 each, and other materials were seized from them.
