K'taka: Kumaraswamy continues his village stay

Chamarajanagara (Karnataka), May 28: Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy, continuing his village stay, spent last night in a house belonging to Mr Venkatashetty, a poor former who owns half an acre of land in Badagalamole village.

Mr Kumaraswamy, who ventured to remove 17 year old jinx attached to the District that Chief Minister who visits would loose his post, was given a traditional welcome when he arrived at 0200 hrs.

The Chief Minister, after experiencing more than one hour of tense situation as helicopter, carrying him, landed in agriculture field due to bad weather, offered prayers at Sree Ranganathaswamy temple in the B R Hills and heard people's grievances before reaching the village for night stay.

The Badagalamole village, with 660 population, had been completely transformed into a model village by providing necessary facilities. All the thatched huts had been removed and 156 concrete houses were constructed with pipes for drinking water, electricity at a cost of Rs One crore, thanks to the visit of Chief Minister but for whom the villagers would have continued to suffer.

Today, soon after wake up, Mr Kumaraswamy went round the village and held Janata Darshan and heard people's grievances.

After reaching the District headquarters Chamarajanagara, he offered prayers at Chamaraja temple and offered special pooja.

Earlier, the Chief Minister visited Alur village and consoled family members of a farmer M Somanna, who committed suicide due to debts. He gave compensation cheque for Rs one lakh to the next kin of Mr Somanna.
