SMEs must develop global linkages with govt- Global MSME

Kolkata, May 22 (UNI) To develop marketing linkages between SMEs and the major Union government sectors like railways and defence, Indian Chamber of Commerce will organise a national-level seminar on procurement management.

Speaking at a programme here today, ICC secretary general Rajeeb Singh said, ''The SME sectors will display compenents and equipment in an exhibition which will be useful for the Railways and Defence apart from the seminars.'' ICC had also floated a Global MSME forum to cater to the needs of the MSME (Micro and SME sectors) by extending services, netwroking and other necessary expertise.

Various representatives from Micro, Small and Medium Industry under Union and state government, Financial Institutions, Bankers and Credit Rating Agencies are part of this forum.

Micro, Small and Medium Industry department secretary Ramit Mutsuddi said government agencies like SISI would offer subsidy for certification.

Till March 31, 2007, the state government agency SISI offer 75 per cent subsidy under Credit Linked Certification Scheme (CLCS).

There are nine lakh SSI units in Bengal, which form 90 per cent of the total units in the state and offers 25 lakh employment opportunities in the country.

There are total 12.53 million SSI units in India.
